"Assistant Lightkeeper's Program" Cabot Head Lightstation

Introduction
Welcome to the historic Cabot Head Lightstation established in 1896 to guide ships rounding Cabot Head on the often turbulent waters of Georgian Bay. Today the Cabot Head Lightstation is operated and maintained by the "Friends of Cabot Head" as a historical local landmark, including museum, interpretive plaques, trails, picnic area and a gift shop.

The Friends of Cabot Head, a not-for-profit volunteer organization obtains all its funds for restoration, maintenance and management from visitor donations, membership dues, the Assistant Lighthouse Keepers Program and sales through the gift shop.

Program
As part of our fund raising efforts we offer a one week stay in the Lighthouse for two people as Assistant Lightkeepers. You will live in the Lighthouse, in accommodation that includes one bedroom (2 single beds) with a separate sitting room, a four piece bathroom, and a fully equipped summer kitchen.

Duties
Although you will have free time during your weeks stay at the lighthouse, we do require that you be responsible for certain light duties to assist our on site manager in the smooth day to day operation of the Lightstation. You will assist in greeting the visitors, help out in the gift shop, and in our new Artist’s Studio and some housekeeping duties in the lighthouse.

Personal Supplies
You must bring with you all your personal supplies for your week stay i.e. food, blankets and toiletries.

Arrival/Departure Times
Arrival time is Monday at 10:00 a.m. with departure on Sunday at 5:00 p.m.
Other Restrictions Due to insurance regulations we regret we are not able to accept children under the age of eighteen as part of this program although supervised children are more than welcome to visit the lightstation.

Fire regulations require no smoking in or near the lighthouse including the private rooms.

We also require allergy free accommodation, no pets please.

Fees
Our fees are $395.50 Canadian for a couple/or single person for the week. MAXIMUM 2 ADULTS.
Each couple/or single person must become a member of our organization the Friends of Cabot Head. The membership fee schedule can be found on the membership page. Dues must be paid annually.

Cancellation
Cancellation within 30 days of your booking will be subject to a $50.00 fee.
Membership dues are not refundable. ASSISTANT LIGHTKEEPERS' STAYS ARE NOT
