NEWS FLASH The development of the Historical Self-Guided Walking Tour utilizes a site map brochure and strategically placed interpretive historical plaques throughout the light station site. These plaques depict many of the early historic operating systems, which have been removed or replaced over the lifetime of the lighthouse. In the tour, we have also incorporated the history of the timber and fishing industries that flourished around Cabot Head. The tour offers visitors a unique informal way of gaining historical insight into Cabot Head as an important geographic site to our pioneers.
Reactions from visitors, local residents, media and historians have been very positive. In the future, the Interpretive Walking Tour should become a major draw for visitors.
